Giftedness 101

Gifted children are often misunderstood. A common myth is that highly intelligent children will succeed on their own without support or structure. In reality, without appropriate guidance, many gifted children experience:

• Boredom and disengagement in school
• Asynchronous development (developing intellectually much faster than emotionally or physically)
• Social isolation or hiding their abilities to fit in
• Frustration, leading to behavioral issues or school dropouts
